Saudi Arabia has just announced that it is building a supercomputer that could rank among the 10 most powerful systems in the world. King Abdullah University of Science and Technology is teaming up with IBM to construct the machine, which is said to become the most powerful supercomputer in the region.

The university says the system, named Shaheen (the Arabic word for peregrine falcon), will be used to conduct research on its energy supplies and attract scientists from around the world.

Will it manage to pull in minds of science? Will the Kingdom present the next Bill Gates?

What do you think?
