Klaus Schwab is the founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), an accomplishment so staggering, he made Time magazine's top 100 most influential people in the world (2007). His entry was even written by Kofi Anan, a personal friend of Schwab.
He founded the WEF in 1971 as a non-profit foundation, and, according to www.weforum.org, "built it into the foremost global partnership of business, political, intellectual and other leaders of society committed to improving the state of the world." That's impressive, but there's more.
In addition to founding the WEF, Schwab was also Professor of Business Policy at the University of Geneva, where he authored a number of books, including the annual 'Global Competitiveness Reports'.
The man is overrun with distinctions from organizations and governments. His academic accolades include an Honorary Professorship and six honorary doctorates, and his national and international honors are too numerous to name. He's also received the mother of all distinctions: a Knighthood (KCMG) by the Queen of England. |
