6 vacation spots in the Arab world
Since the world’s broke, we figured it’s time you explored the cities around you. Here are six places we think you should explore.

Cairo, Egypt
Cairo, the largest city in Africa, is located on both sides of the Nile River in Northern Egypt. The Pyramids are located just west of Cairo in the suburb of Giza. There, you’ll find the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. Also a must see is the citadel (al-Qalaa), a fortress built in the 12th century by King Salaheddine. The fortress is built on a hill and overlooks the old city of Cairo.

One of the region’s busiest bazaars, Khan El Khalili, is located in Cairo.

For 20 years, Egypt’s tourism sector has had an average annual growth of 25 percent. Like many countries, however, Egypt’s tourism sector has been struggling with the economic slowdown, but it is expected to be “among the few” to get away from the full impact of the crisis.

"Nearly 13 million people visited Egypt in 2008, and we have high hopes of either increasing the number of tourists this year or at least preserving the current number," said Hisham Zaazou.
