Hilton mania has struck Dubai’s media. Brace yourselves.

The Paris Hilton media craze in Dubai is seriously driving us crazy. We understand that she is a celebrity and an heiress with lots of money, but celebrities are not new to the city; the Atlantis party saw many of them frolicking in Dubai, and product and real estate launches have also pulled many big names to the desert. So why the extra hype this time round?

We also acknowledge that she could marginally influence Dubai’s image, but is she really page one material? Do we really care what she said when she landed in Dubai, or what she drank (apparently, it was Arabic coffee, and she didn’t like it), or what she wrote on Twitter, or what she wore?

We would go with Brad Pitt any day. And Angelina Jolie. Actually, maybe both. But certainly not Paris Hilton.

quote up She's running her business very well - gaining fame & money out of some people's obsession with her. So either we give her business by continuing to be obsessed with her and or we stop giving her business by detaching from her. The choice lies with each individual - we are consumers who can choose or ignore a product. quote up
