The Ministry of Labor fined 90 companies for failing to abide by the UAE’s midday work ban, according to figures published by the ministry.
The ban was enforced on July 1, giving laborers who work under the sun a two and a half hour break, from 12.30pm to 3pm. The law, which does not apply to laborers who work under shaded areas, was introduced in 2005, but is updated regularly.
Officials conducted 12159 inspections between July 1 and July 11.
