The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will implement a single fare for all modes of public transport when the Dubai Metro is launched, reports Gulf News.
“The new fare structure allows a commuter to use different modes of transport and pay for one single journey only by following the correct transfer rule,” said Mattar Al Tayer, chairman of the board and executive director of the RTA.
The unified fare system will vary according to the price of the ticket. For instance, single ticket holders will be required to use his or her ticket within 90 minutes, and will be allowed one free transfer between public transportation modes (ie. Train to bus), within 30 minutes.
