Lawyers representing two Dubai-based Australian men accused of fraud have asked for more information regarding the charges against them, reports ABC News.
Matt Joyce and Marcus Lee, both former Nakheel employees, were taken into custody in January 2009, but were formerly charged with fraud last week. A trial date has not been set.
Martin Ahmad, one of their lawyers, said “The allegation is that in their employment [at Nakheel] they were somehow involved in fraud, the details we don’t know yet.”
“This is their third prison in that timeframe, and they and their families are struggling,” he said.
“Mr Joyce has his wife and three children in Dubai and Mr Lee has his wife there. They are struggling, they have non-contact visits with their families once a week.”
