Loading ...Maintenance fees hurt
Kipp was a little taken aback when we learned that the maintenance fees at Nakheel’s Discovery Gardens (nicknamed ‘Crazy Town’ by some Dubai residents) are as high as AED21.85 per square foot.
According to a report in Arabian Business, the breakdown of the maintenance fees is: “AED10.35 per square foot in building maintenance, AED2.8 per square foot in community charges, and AED8.7 per square foot in cooling charges.”
Kipp was shocked. Not only are the buildings rumored to be of low-quality, but tenants have to pay exorbitant maintenance fees to live there. That’s awful.
Apparently, 90 tenants and homeowners agree. They signed a petition that they plan on presenting to the Ruler’s Court and Dubai’s Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA).
Good luck. We hear the courts are overloaded with cases, and RERA is doing…something.

What a surprise and this is just the beginning and the properties are fairly new. In a few years when you really need repairs these guys are going milk everybody living in these buildings no matter which project or building, most of the construction was done by investors and speculators, be it Na keel or any government affiliated partnership who never cared for the long term consequences other than the almighty profit most of the work was done in a shoddy workman like manner and the heat and the sand storms are going to make a quick work of the deterioration of the buildings just look around and see buildings that are only a few years older. Non of the maintenance costs were ever divulged to any prospective buyer and the Government has no idea and it's not in their best interest to require that it be disclosed upfront prior to the closing of purchase agreement since they were the main beneficiaries of the real estate boom
