Companies in the region have planned average salary increases of 7.9 percent in 2010, according to the Annual Salary Increase Survey conducted by human resources consulting firm Hewitt Associates. In 2009, these organizations had given an increase of 6.9 percent, says the report.
According to the survey, the number of companies freezing salaries is expected to drop from 42 percent in 2009 to 14 percent in 2010. Companies opting for salary cuts are also expected to fall from 5.7 percent in 2009 to 1.9 percent in 2010.
