The UAE could award a deal to build nuclear reactors in the country by November this year, sources told Emirates Business. The deal could be awarded to a US-Japanese consortium, or French and South Korean bidders. The UAE plans to start producing nuclear power by 2015 as part of a $40-billion nuclear program.
“The award could take a week to 10 days,” a local source close to the deal told the paper.
A nuclear co-operation agreement between the UAE and the US came into effect in October, and according to authorities, the deal is currently in its final stages.
