Blood, gangs and International City
Dubai Police have arrested some of the members of Asian gangs running brothels in Dubai International City, reports Gulf News.
The arrests follow violent encounters between rival mobs. An Asian gang, mostly Vietnamese, reportedly murdered an Indian man and injured another from a rival group in the China cluster on Friday.
In the aftermath, traces of blood on the floors of some buildings have scared many residents. Some told the paper that they want to leave International City for good.
“Police knocked on our doors past midnight, asking for our nationalities,” said one resident. “I didn’t dare leave my apartment, but when I left for work this morning I was horrified to see pools of blood in the entire building. I ran … I am scared to go there again.”
A source told the paper that the police raided approximately 52 flats allegedly being used as brothels.
It must be scary to walk out of your front door and find blood spattered on the ground, particularly in a city like Dubai, which prides itself of being safe. Kipp agrees with the resident: If we were living in International City, we would probably be house hunting elsewhere right now.
