Aircraft maker Airbus announced commitments worth $5.3 billion covering 33 aircraft during the Dubai Airshow. These commitments include 15 firm orders valued at more than $3.6 billion, and MOU agreements for a further 18 aircraft, totaling around $1.7 billion. The firm orders include two A380s worth $655 million from Air Austral, 12 A350-900s worth $2.9 billion from Ethiopian Airlines, and one Airbus Corporate Jet worth $75 million from Comlux.
The show was "not bad," Justin Dubon, the Airbus spokesperson told Kipp. The airplane manufacturer bagged four more orders than its rival Boeing, and according to Dubon, Airbus is more popular in the Middle East because of having "larger planes which are more modern and efficient."
