Just under 400 Metro passengers have been fined by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in the first 50 days since the rail system began operating in the city, reports Emirates Business. The RTA issued 391 tickets under the Metro Fines and Offences Code, Ramadan Abdulla, director of the Operations Department at the RTA’s Rail Agency, told the paper. Fines range between AED250 and AED2,000.
The maximum number of fines-170-were issued for “using the Metro or entering or exiting fare zones without paying the set fare,” says the report. Another 77 were fined for eating and drinking in prohibited areas.
