Computer and technology giant Apple has bought music service provider Lala for an undisclosed sum, reported Reuters on Saturday. Apple, which owns iTunes, the leading music service provider in the US, did not specify why it acquired Lala.
“Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time and we generally do not comment on our purpose or plans,” Apple spokesman Steve Dowling said.
Apple’s iTunes store offers over 11 million songs, and has sold billions of tracks since the service’s launch in 2003.
