One in ten people laid off in the GCC this year
One in ten professionals have lost their jobs during the last year in the GCC, according to a survey conducted by online recruitment firm Gulf Talent. The survey says that the UAE saw the highest number of job losses in the GCC, with 16 percent being made redundant in the country. Overall, the real estate sector saw the biggest cuts, with 15 percent losing their jobs.
The study found that while some of the expatriate professionals who lost their jobs have returned home, many have relocated to other places in the region.
The survey, which spoke to 24,000 professionals, also found that 15 percent of the companies in the region are planning further job cuts, while 51 percent are expecting to increase headcount next year.

For some reason the number doesnt make alot of sense. 16% in the UAE thats at least 320,000 people considering a 2 million population of professionals
I'm not against the job cuts or the Laid Off plan for any company especially the private sector. But we should consider a more organized and professional job cuts for the employees because the employer enjoyed the good days (Profit Making without sharing) when any company team was doing a phenomenal job by securing good and profitable deals for the company he / she works for.
An unstructured or unplanned job cut is going to affect the society especially when it happened during the school days. If it’s necessary to do the job cut any employer should consider a proper compensation plan for his employee to give him the comfort/ decent living until he fulfills his commitment towards his family and the society.
