The Abu Dhabi International Airport welcomed 9.7 million passengers in 2009, indicating a growth rate of 7.3 percent through the year, the Abu Dhabi Airports Company said on Sunday. Cargo traffic also increased 7 percent during the year, and total flights amounted to 102,118, up 9.6 percent from 2008.
London (Heathrow) was the most popular destination for passengers flying out of Abu Dhabi in 2009, and it was followed by Bangkok, Doha, Bahrain and Cairo.
