Arkan Building Materials Co. said on Sunday it plans to set up a lime plant in Al Ain to meet growing demand from industries in the United Arab Emirates.
The plant will produce more than 1,000 tonnes of lime per day using indigenous raw material, the firm said in a statement to the bourse.
Production is scheduled to begin in 2012, Arkan said without stating the investment outlay.
The UAE is investing billions of dirhams in industry, infrastructure and tourism as part of the economy’s diversification strategy.
