All eyes on Qatar
The Asian Cup 2011 could present Qatar with the perfect opportunity to prove its world cup credentials.

With the eyes of a dubious footballing world on Qatar thanks to its shock victory in the race to host the FIFA World Cup in 2022, the Asian Cup kicked off on Friday in Doha.
In December, Fifa awarded Qatar the 2022 World Cup to bring the tournament to the Middle East for the first time. With the Asian Cup, Qataris are getting their first chance to prove that the tiny oil-rich Gulf state can host a high-profile soccer event. Well, sort of high profile.
