Apple geeks camp out for iPad launch
Winter coats, blankets, and a night’s wait in the cold… what people did to be among the first to get their hands on the iPad.

Mark Milian from the Los Angeles Times chats to eager Apple fans, who camped out in the early hours of Saturday morning to be among the first to buy an iPad.
Apple’s new tablet computer is essentially a much larger version of the popular iPhone, but without the calling capabilities.
Most people in line in L.A. and Pasadena said they were buying the 16 gigabyte version at the entry-level price of $499. Others were willing to buy the most expensive version – until the 3G models come out, at least – which has 64 gigabytes and costs $699.
As the hardcore Apple geeks wait in the cold, tensions rise between those who pre-registered for the device and those who didn’t.
