Qatar’s unimaginable wealth can make great things happen. It can make a few freaky things happen as well, it seems.
Wafa Bilal, an Iraqi artist, has had a camera surgically implanted in his head for an art project that will mark the opening of a new Qatari museum called Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art.
The images captured by the camera will be transmitted to monitors at the new museum, which will host a collection of more than 6,000 artworks dating from the late 1800s to the middle of the 20th century.
