France has called on leaders of the European Union’s member countries to meet as soon as Thursday this week to discuss the situation in Libya, EU diplomats said on Monday.
“The French are consulting on holding an on /North Africa,” said one diplomat, adding: “They want it this week.”
“It’s one of the options,” said a second EU diplomat, adding that a meeting could happen on Thursday should Germany and others agree. “France has asked, but some big countries are against it.”
