The Emirates Identity Authority, Eida, will expedite ID registration Wednesday with 20 registration devices made available at the Abu Dhabi Traffic Department, the Gulf News reported Wednesday.
Abdul Aziz Al Muammari, director of the public relations at Eida, said additional staff will be deployed to handle the many applicants, with buses to transport applicants from busy registration sites, to those with less applicants.
The id card will be mandatory for access to services, with governmental departments and banks requiring the ID card in order to transact business, reminds Eida deputy head, Ali Al Khouri.

What a farce. Surely passport and visa are enough ID. The government has plenty of information about us on file at all times without this added bureaucracy. I’ve tried to download the form on three different computers to no avail.
And apparently the big advantage is that you can use it as an e-gate card. Or you could just, oh, I dunno, get an e-gate card, which takes five minutes.
Idiocy!
