The first that comes to Kipp’s mind when you say Al Futtaim, is the catchy jingle that used to play on the radio in the 90’s “Al Futtaim Motors, we care and it shows.” Of course, we heard it as “Al Futtaim Motors, we care if you’re insured”—but that is a different story altogether. Al Futtaim Group of companies is one of the UAE’s oldest companies. Established somewhere in the 1930’s as a trading business, Al Futtaim now operates over 65 companies in six main sectors: automotive, retail, electronics, engineering and technology, real estate, financial services and general services. The company hires more than 20,000 people across the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Syria, Singapore and Europe. Al Futtaim’s businesses and agencies include the likes of ACE Hardware, Aftron, Al Futtaim Motors, Ikea, Marks & Spencer, Toys R’ Us, Plug Ins, Toyota, Chrysler, Fossil, Black & Decker, Seiko and Panasonic.
