Established in 1969, Galadari Brothers Group first operated under the name ARE Galadari & Brothers. It started with distributing ice cream brand Lyons. While in the 70s, the company opened Dubai’s first 5-star hotel, the Intercontinental in Deira. Now, just like the rest of the family businesses, it operates across various sectors as well. These include automobile (mazda), media (Khaleej Times), retail (Baskin Robbins and Dunkin’ Donuts), hospitality (Radisson Blu), travel entertainment and real estate.
With about 3,000 employees, the Group is led by Mohammed Abdulrahim Galadari, chairman and chief executive. However the government of Dubai does have a 30 percent stake in the company since 2006. Net worth of the company is not publicly recorded, but Zawya estimates it into the millions.
