The UAE’s rally champ and son of Bahrain’s king, Mohammed Ben Sulayem had the honor in 2005 of escorting Jackson as the pop star toured Dubai. Following Jackson’s acquittal in a California court on charges of child molestation, he visited Dubai amid speculation that he was keen to buy property there.
Sulaymen reportedly told local media that “Michael had a wonderful time and he was surprised and impressed by what he found in Dubai.”
Widely regarded as one of the Arab world’s most famous sportsmen, the Middle East Rally Champ is the founder and chairman of the UAE Desert Challenge Cross Country Rally, and a founding member of the Arab Council of Touring and Automobile Clubs. He was also a driving force behind the organization of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
