Buying budget isn’t a particularly Dubai-an mindset, but it is slowly catching on. Kipp takes a quick look at the small but growing network of budget in Dubai.

When Dubai launched its budget airline at the heart of the recession, many were skeptical. Sure, a budget airline was what Dubai’s expats needed the most, but was it the right time to launch into such a project? Well let’s just say that Fly Dubai very recently took delivery of a brand new and shiny Boeing 737-800NG taking their current fleet up to 16 planes. The budget airline is surely prospering and that may have to do with its no-frills policy.
