Speaking of music, surely Campbell’s earliest brush with pop mega stardom came when she was just seven years old. She was cast as a pupil to appear in the music video for Bob Marley’s son, Is this love? They won’t have known each other well though, Marley died in 1981, three years after the video.
Marley was born in Jamaica in 1945 as Nesta Robert Marley, though according to reports a Jamaican passport official later swapped his last and middle names. With a white father and a black mother he was of mixed descent, though he identified with the struggles of blacks and Africans against oppression. Marley and various associates spent ten years playing and recording before the Wailers first album was released to success in 1973. After they split in 1974, Marley continued as Bob Marley and The Wailers, becoming the most famous ska/reggae performer in music history. His fame was tragically sealed when he died aged just 36.
