The spellings vary, but the man stays the same: Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak al Nahyan is the United Arab Emirates Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. He and Kamal signed an agreement that saw Arabtec establish the Arabtec Professor in Civil Engineering at the Dubai’s Higher Colleges of Technology back in 2009.
Nahyan is chancellor of two of the three government sponsored institutes of higher learning, the UAE University and the Higher Colleges of Technology, and he’s President of the third, Zayed University. He’s not just about education, however; he’s chairman of CERT (the Centre of Excellence for Applied Research and Training), the commercial arm of the Higher Colleges of Technology. Plus he’s chairman of the Abu Dhabi Group, Union National Bank, and United Bank Limited.
