The Queen of England is all over the news this week, as she is visiting the UAE for the first time in 30 years. She was met on arrival by Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed, and was taken on a tour of Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
Shilpa Shetty met the Queen in 2007, soon after her Big Brother victory. Shetty gave a speech on racial tolerance (she had suffered racial abuse in the Big Brother house) to mark Commonwealth Day and met the Queen afterwards at Westminster Abbey. According to one report, Shetty’s unstable footwear choice meant she almost toppled over onto the Queen.
The Queen is the figurehead of 54 Commonwealth nations as well as being the British Monarch. Her reign of 58 years is one of the longest in the world.
