Network of The 80s

Ah the era of the mix-tape…do you still have some of those cassettes hidden somewhere back home? If you’re an 80s baby, your mix-tape wouldn’t be complete without the Pet Shop Boys, Duran Duran, George Michael, Cyndi Lauper, the late great Michael Jackson, and of course, Madonna.
But this decade wasn’t always about Madonna’s cone bra and nor Jacko’s moonwalk. It was also the era of glam metal and punk rock and it saw the birth of thrashmetal, through the likes of Metallica and Def Leppard.
There were a number of changes in established hard rock acts, including the disbanding of Led Zeppelin. This was also the time when Black Sabbath split with Ozzy Osbourne while rock bands Queen and Kiss moved away from their hard rock roots and into pop rock and pop metal, respectively.
Lest we forget, there was also a hiphop revolution that came in the form of Run-DMC and Grandmaster Flash.
Kipp also takes a moment to note that on December 8, 1980, musician John Lennon was shot in the back four times outside his New York home and on May 11, 1981 Bob Marley died from lentiginous skin melanoma
