Network of The 80s
April 9, 2011 9:38 by kippreport
One of the most distinct periods in fashion is the 80s. Kipp still remembers cringing at the sight of mommy’s drawer full of shoulder pads. Fashion during this decade also includes the perm, the mullet, the Jheri curl teased hair, ripped jeans, leggings and neon clothing—fashion faux pas so crazy it really did take a life of its own.
Other trends during that time were the Aviator glasses (popularised by the film Top Gun), Michael Jackson’s white glove and Swatch watches (which Kipp is finding are actually due its turn back into fashion cycle).
These styles are still making it into the current pop culture, with 80s-enamored celebrities still reviving them in their films, including Drew Barrymore, Adam Sandler and enduring 80s teen actor John Cusack.
