how idiotic. did you know that if you allow a girl to come in your house to clean and then pay her, you can receive a fine of US$30,000?? that girl will go to jail for six months. if you can’t pay that fine, YOU will go to jail. living in dubai is not a joke. the streets are not strewn with roses and champagne bottles.

    Get your facts straight, cyna.

Fines and jail in the example you highlight ONLY occurs when the helper/maid is illegal or not under yours [or an agency's] sponsorship. Otherwise every second household in the emirate would be breaking the law when they employ a live-in maid for their family, and all those little vans one sees transporting agency maids from job to job would be breaking the law as well.
