One of the Sheikh’s more recent high-profile encounters was not with a celebrity or sports person, but with a journalist.
In June this year, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum granted an exclusive interview to CNN in which he talked about the challenges faced by the Dubai economy and the opportunities for economic growth. The man asking the questions was John Defterios, an award winning veteran journalist.
With more than 25 years experience, he serves as President of FBC Media Group, a specialist production and media company. Formerly an anchor and correspondent for CNN, for seven years he hosted FBC’s syndicated program World Business, which had a reach of 350 million people. Since 2007, he has hosted CNN International’s Market Place Middle East.
