He is more properly known as Sir Stelios, knighted in 2006 by England’s Queen Elizabeth, who bestowed the honor in her  80th Birthday Honors List for “services to entrepreneurship.”

The pair also met at a reception at St James’s Palace in London in 2008 to mark the anniversary of the Leonard Cheshire Disability charity, the Telegraph reported.

Queen Elizabeth and Haji-Ioannou are both active patrons of philanthropic initiatives.  The Queen was in attendance that evening to honor Gill Hicks, who lost her legs in the July 7 London bombing. For his part, Haji-Ioannou funds an annual £50,000 prize for disabled entrepreneurs.
