After spending hours waiting in Dubai International’s departure hall, amidst the jostling masses and the roar of airplanes landing and taking off, is it your living nightmare to hear the airport’s voice deliver bad news?

Well, spare a thought for the voice. Imagine an army of airport employees hastening to the announcer’s office to add yet another set of numbers and figures to an ever growing pile on her desk.

In this video the BBC meets Afra Al Muhirai, the face behind the voice that delivers announcements for over 40 million passengers a year and calls for more than 2,800 departures each week at one of the world’s busiest airports.
