The Network of… Colonel Muammar Gaddafi

Known as Mad-Dog Gaddafi to some, the Libyan leader has developed a colourful network of contacts through his forty years of rule. Kipp takes a look at some of them.

A secret cable from the Tripoli embassy leaked through Wikileaks noted that Gaddafi had a team of nurses and “relies heavily on his long-time Ukrainian nurse, Galyna Kolotnytska, who has been described as a ‘voluptuous blonde’.” The 38 year-old Ukrainian nurse, who many claim has enjoyed a romantic relationship to Gaddafi, has very recently flown home to Kiev, Ukraine. Kolotnytska, who had been with the Libyan leader for nine years, did not speak to reporters on her return, but a passenger who travelled on the same plane as the nurse claims Kolotnytska to have said: “Papa is good, Papa is forever. Gaddafi will win. In a month and a half to two months, we will be going back there.”
