When Hillary Clinton landed in Riyadh she was welcomed by Prince Saud al Faisal foreign minister of Saudi Arabia. The prince has served in this role since he was appointed in 1975 and is a member of the royal family. In his 35 years of service to his country as Foreign Minister he has always expressed his concern and sympathy for the plight of the Palestinians. The New York Times reports the prince as saying: “We have not yet seen moments of joy in all that time (…) We have seen only moments of crisis; we have seen only moments of conflict, and how can you have any pleasure in anything that happens when you have people like the Palestinians living as they are?” A Princeton economics graduate, Prince Saud is said to speak seven languages and is married with six children.
