Soumillon will be part of Mike de Kock’s high-flying Dubai team for the second consecutive year this World Cup. A Belgian-born Thoroughbred horse racing jockey, Soumillon won his first race in November, 1997 and by 1999 had been named Champion Apprentice. He continued racing with excellent records and by 2003 became a champion jockey with 207 wins. Though he is mostly known as a flat jockey, Soumillon did win a major hurdle race when he won the 2010 Grande Course de Haies d’Auteuil (French Champion Hurdle) on Mandali.
