As chairman of Noor Islamic Bank, Sheikh Ahmed depends on his board of directors to guide the institution in its current expansion drive, including vice chairman Mohammad Al Gergawi. Gergawi, who is the also the Minister of Cabinet Affairs of the Federal Government of the United Arab Emirates and Chairman of Dubai Holding is also the Vice Chairman of Noor Investment Group LLC, Noor Islamic Bank PJSC, Noor Takaful General PJSC, Noor Takaful Family PJSC. Born to a relatively lower-middle class family, Gergawi has nine siblings and was orphaned at a young age. Upon graduating from high school he won an educational scholarship and went to Michigan in the United States for university. He later joined the Dubai Municipality and worked there before joining the Dubai Economic Development Department.
