Sheikh Ahmed probably made Louis Gallois a very happy man when he signed a $2.6 billion deal to buy eight more A380 making Emirates Airbus A380’s biggest customer two years ago. Coming from what many call an elitist background, Gallois studied at the Ecole National D’Administration and enjoyed a career in the aviation industry before being appointed as Airbus head. According to the BBC, Gallois’ previous work includes “running engine maker Snecma, as well as heading Aerospatiale and SNCF.” Well loved by his countrymen, Louis Gallois has been called “a man of great calibre” by French Socialist leader Francois Hollande, who said about Gallois in 2006 “he has a sense of duty to the state and in this company you also need to talk about a sense of duty to the state and the national interest.”
