A year has passed since Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi was appointed the new Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah following the death of his father Sheikh Saqr Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi. Sheikh Sa’ud, who went to the American University of Beirut to study economics, but completed his bachelor’s degree in political science and economics at the University of Michigan in the US after war broke out in Lebanon. Prior to his ascension, he was the Chairman of the Civic Council, the head of the RAK Fathers’ Council for Education and also headed corporations and financial establishments, including Julphar, Ras Al Khaimah Ceramic Factory and Al Manal Shopping Centre. Currently he is the Chairman of Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, Chairman of Ras Al Khaimah Emiri Court and Chancellor of Ras Al Khaimah Medical and Health Sciences University.
