Huge crowds of Muslim pilgrims are in Mina in Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj, which is a rite that forms one of the five pillars of Islam. Hajj is an obligation on every able-bodied Muslim who can afford to perform it at least once in his or her lifetime.
The essence of Hajj is to transcend race, nationality and economic background. But down on the streets, the experience is more testing for pilgrims with little financial means.
