The 26-year-old US medal-winning swimmer Fran Crippen tragically died during the final leg of the 10-kilometer Marathon Swimming World Cup in the emirate of Fujairah, east of Dubai.
The swimming star was aiming to compete in the open water event at the 2012 Olympic Games.
