Earlier this week an Emirates aircraft traveling between Dubai and Kochi hit an air pocket and descended sharply, with passengers sustaining trauma and injury.
The pilot amazingly managed to right the plane and land safely at Kochi’s international airport. Of the more than 350 passengers onboard, 20 passengers reportedly suffered injury.
“EK-530 from Dubai to Kochi encountered a short period of heavy turbulence while cruising at 35,000 feet. It experienced a 200-foot (60-meter) descent in altitude,” the airline said in a statement.
Civil aviation authorities are investigating an alleged 50 minute delay in reporting the emergency, according to this video report.
