$1.5 million for a night in space

The first space hotel plans to open by 2012, and will charge $4.4 million for three nights. That’s the price you pay to be out of this world.

Galactic Suite, the company building the first hotel in space, says that the project will be completed by 2012, reports Reuters. Guests at the hotel will see the sun rise 15 times a day, travel around the world every 80 minutes, and crawl around their rooms in Velcro suits.
But waking up in space doesn’t come cheap; guests will have to shell out $4.4 million for a three-night stay at The Galactic Suite Space Resort. The amount also includes an eight-week training course on a tropical island.
“It’s very normal to think that your children, possibly within 15 years, could spend a weekend in space,” the company’s CEO Xavier Claramunt, told Reuters.
Call us old fashioned, but Kipp doubts that even our children will be able to dish out $4.4 million to spend a weekend in space, unless they win a lottery or become millionaires overnight.
Until that happens, our kids, just like us, will just watch the sun rise once a day on earth, and dream about space. It’s cheaper.
