A fairytale future?

What can we expect from the partnership between Abu Dhabi’s Imagenation and the Hollywood brand behind Syriana?
September 11, 2008 2:37 by kippreport
Abu Dhabi’s Imagenation media has just joined hands with Hollywood company Participant Media to form a $250m fund to finance films in the region. The five-year fund hopes to make as many as 18 films in five years.
Just last week, the Abu Dhabi government announced a $1bn investment into Imagenation to make around 8 films a year.
Bagging the partnership of Participant, the company behind Syriana and The Kite Runner is quite an achievement for Imagenation. So, what can we expect in the future?
Will people finally be able to see the region through the eyes of Arabs rather than Americans? Will more local talent get an opportunity? Or will there be a reign on creativity from the management? How many nods will a blockbuster need before it is approved for production?
What do you think?
