A free car for the weekend

Renault has a great new test drive offer for its new Megane Hatch in the UK.

“We think you’ll enjoy your 24 hour New Mégane Hatch experience so much you won’t want to give the car back,” says the Renault special test drive website. The company is basically offering a day-long test drive for the new car available on Mondays, Wednesdays or from Friday to Monday (the entire weekend) for residents in the UK.
The car is even delivered to and collected from the customer’s home (with a full tank of fuel), but has to be returned in the same condition.
Renault is obviously looking to earn something through the offer, and its strategy fits in with the concept put forth by Wired magazine editor-in-chief Chris Anderson in his book, Free. He says giving goods away has now become a main strategy that’s changing the way the world does business.
Kipp is sure our readers agree with us that getting free stuff is always fun. Have you heard of any other companies giving away “free” offers? Somebody else who prescribes to Anderson’s theory? And who will give us something for nothing?
