A tale of taxis
This time, for a change, it’s bad news for Dubai cabbies.

And… we are back with a different kind of traffic report.
Gulf News today talks about how taxi drivers in Dubai are feeling the pinch from the economic crisis, because fewer people are using their services.
It’s true; we were actually counting the number of empty taxis as we crossed Bur Dubai last night. Normally it’s rare to see any in that part of town.
So now, hopefully, they will be stopping for us. And in a perverse way, it feels great to finally have the upper hand. Do you agree?

Upper Hand?? They have tasted blood…these cabbies and will never change stripes ever!
Even though they may be ‘available’ now that earlier feeling of ‘can depend upon cabs’ and ‘will get a cab’ is now gone forever.
I am still going to cling to my Prado for all its worth.
Too late for me too – I’m driving now as even when I did manage to get in a cab at media city to get home, as soon as the drivers found out I lived in Satwa, not the Marina as they assumed… they soon had all sorts of excuses for not taking my fare – and if they did take me – listening to the complaining about “too much of traffic” for the entire trip home was not worth it!
