Looking for a Christmas present? Here’s an idea: although it’s sacrilege to buy a family member yet another cookbook, this one’s different. It’s called: How to feed your whole family a healthy balanced diet, with very little money and hardly any time, even if you have a tiny kitchen, only three saucepans (one with an ill-fitting lid) and no fancy gadgets – unless you count the garlic crusher… It’s a long title, but Gill Holcombe, the author, knew what she was doing.
“As a working mother with three children, I always seem to be short of time and money, so I wanted to show other mothers and fathers in a similar situation that it is entirely possible to produce great meals without a load of fancy ingredients and cooking gadgets,” she said to the Daily Telegraph, a UK based newspaper.
The book gives advice on how to feed your entire family on a GBP30 (AED164) a week budget. That’s cheap. According to the Telegraph, the book has sold 13,705 since the beginning of November. It costs GBP4.99 (AED27) on Amazon.
