Credit cards anyone?
Citibank is still pushing credit cards on to customers. Why?
January 6, 2009 3:47 by Aarti Nagraj
This morning, Kipp got a call from a Citibank executive who was desperately trying to sell us a credit card. We had a hard time convincing him that we were not interested.
While we were still trying to figure out how the bank got our number, we found out that another colleague had got a similar call, and discovered that somebody from our company had given the bank our details.
It still left us wondering why a bank would try to push us a credit card during the current credit crunch? Citi even offered one of us 20 percent extra credit.
We did ask the bank why they are doing this, and we are still waiting for their response. In the meantime, any ideas?
Update: Here’s the response from Citi- “We continue to do business as usual without any interruptions. We have always followed prudent credit and marketing policies, and our business model has been tailored to meet the real financing needs of customers based in the UAE.”
